GOTV DIRECTOR

GOTV DIRECTOR

The great swing state of Wisconsin often feels like the center of the political and public policy universe, especially during an election year. Major outcomes from abortion rights to voting access often ride on just how many Wisconsinites decide to stay home or show up at the polls. A lot of pressure, right?

Luckily, Wisconsin has a super power: it’s young voters. Over 300,000 college students call Wisconsin home – when we organize on campuses, students vote.

Building on work started during the April 2023 Supreme Court Election, we’re building a scrappy and innovative organization that will organize and inspire thousands of college students to vote in the 2024 elections.

What Will You Do?

The GOTV Director will use independent discretion and judgment to lead program planning for Get Out the Vote (GOTV) efforts across over 30 college campuses statewide; support the Operations department with logistics needs, supply procurement, and other priorities as needed; and work closely with the Data department to set goals and build accountability systems for the Organizing staff using metrics. The GOTV Director will be expected to be located in Wisconsin by their start date, preferably in Madison. This senior level position will work closely with the State Director and outside compliance firm to maintain day-to-day logistics, including:

  • Independently manage statewide campus GOTV initiatives, including program design, implementation, and execution including apartment/dorm door knocking, High traffic canvassing, and campus-specific event programs

  • Work with the Operations department to ensure the Organizing team has the supplies and logistical support necessary to meet their goals and execute successful GOTV programs

  • In collaboration with the Data department, use independent judgment to build and maintain interdepartmental systems and structures needed to set and track goals and accountability

  • Clearly communicate and manage across departments to ensure all departments are aligned around GOTV goals

  • Collaborate with the organizing director and regional organizing directors to meet the needs of their campuses, teams, and goals

  • Excel in fast-paced, evolving environments to effectively manage the largest campus GOTV program in the state’s history

  • All other duties as assigned

Who Are You?

  • Have 2+ years of experience in campaigns with organizing and preferably in a leadership position

  • Top tier communication skills and ability to manage relationships with outside stakeholders

  • Deep passion for campus organizing and thinking outside of the box

  • Proficiency with VAN and goal management for an organizing team

  • Be scrappy, innovative, and flexible; able to manage several tasks simultaneously

  • Be a self-starter, exceptionally well-organized, and have strong time management skills

  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced and ever-evolving environments and work long, irregular hours, including weekends

  • Have a driver's license and access to a vehicle
