TIK TOK FELLOW

TIK TOK FELLOW

The great swing state of Wisconsin often feels like the center of the political and public policy universe, especially during an election year. Major outcomes from abortion rights to voting access often ride on just how many Wisconsinites decide to stay home or show up at the polls. A lot of pressure, right?

Luckily, Wisconsin has a super power: it’s young voters. Over 300,000 college students call Wisconsin home – when we organize on campuses, students vote.

Building on work started during the April 2023 Supreme Court Election, we’re building a scrappy and innovative organization that will organize and inspire thousands of college students to vote in the 2024 elections.

What Will You Do?

Our Tik Tok fellow will work with our Creative Director and Organizers in their region to film and edit short-form creative videos that will help mobilize students to vote in Wisconsin’s 2024 elections. This is an excellent opportunity to get an inside look at how campaigns work and gain pivotal experience in crafting content that emphasizes key messages, while contributing to turnout for critical elections in 2024.

Our Tik Tok fellows will start in mid-August and work through November. Fellows will spend 15 hours a week mobilizing on their campus by filming, editing, developing concepts, and talking to students about the importance of the upcoming elections for issues like reproductive rights, climate change, democracy, and economic justice. Content will be shared on our statewide Tik Tok account and campus-specific instagram posts. This is a paid fellowship.

Who Are You?

As a successful candidate for this job, you will:

  • Be eager to find niche and/or untold stories

  • Understand the correct tone & pace for short-form video

  • Create content that sounds natural & organic, rather than scripted & pre-informed

  • Demonstrate an ability to condense information into under a minute in a way that is interesting to those with limited knowledge and interest of politics

  • Have a passion for progressive politics and inspiring young people to get involved

  • Be excited to think outside the box and to ideate and innovate to find the most exciting and effective content to mobilize students in your region

  • Be eager to talk to as many students as possible (and be comfortable talking to a lot of strangers/potential volunteers)

  • Be scrappy and flexible; able to manage several tasks simultaneously

  • Be a self-starter, exceptionally well-organized, and have strong time management skills

  • Be enrolled at a Wisconsin college or university. Non-students can apply to be a full-time Campus Organizer.

Job Details: Tik Tok Fellows are paid a monthly stipend of $1,000 and are expected to work 15 hours a week.
